Matured for 21 months in barrel, 60% new. The nose shows cranberry, raspberry, cassis, a pleasant herbal note and pencil shavings. The palate is elegant and understated. Medium bodied with vibrant acidity and chalky tannins. Alc: 13.5%.

Bellevue Heritage Old Vine Pinotage 2021

From a 1953 block. Matured for 22 months in barrel, 50% new. The nose is very expressive with notes of strawberry, cassis, rose, mint, buchu, chocolate and spice while the palate is full-bodied yet remarkably composed with layers of flavour, bright acidity and powdery tannins. Entirely individualistic as you might hope given the age of the vineyard. Alc: 14%.

Bellevue Heritage Old Vine Cinsault 2024

From a 1952 block. Matured for 10 months in barrel, a third each new, second- and third-fill. Red cherry, strawberry, a touch of rubbery reduction and spice on the nose. The palate shows pure fruit, pleasantly tart acidity and grippy tannins that lend a distinctly dry finish. Not without volume, yet tightly wound, the wine combines succulence with savoury restraint. If just a little hollow through the mid-palate, it nevertheless possesses clarity, tension and enough intrigue to reward close attention.

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% each of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Matured for 21 months in barrel, 50% new. Red and black berries, floral perfume, some leafiness, vanilla and spice on the nose. Medium bodied with juicy fruit, fresh acidity and powdery tannins. Open and accessible – shows good clarity of fruit and balance rather than sheer weight or extraction. Alc: 14%.

Bellevue Reserve Pinotage 2023

Matured for 22 months in barrel, approximately 50% new. Red and black cherry, plum, herbs, vanilla and spice on the nose. The palate is polished in the best sense – pure fruit, bright acidity and fine tannins, the finish long and dry. With an an alcohol of 14%, this has a pleasing vinosity about it.

Matured for 22 months in barrel, 50% new. Complex aromatics with top notes of rose and some leafiness before red and black berries, oystershell, vanilla and spice. Great structure without being too rich – dense yet clearly defined fruit, fresh acidity and tightly packed, fine-grained tannins, the finish long and dry. Alc: 13.5%.

Bellevue Chenin Blanc Reserve 2026

Partly own fruit from 1976 block, partly bought in. 60% fermented in barrel, 40% in stainless steel tank. Guava, citrus and peach on the nose while the palate is well balanced with a creamy mouthfeel and well-integrated acidity, the finish gently savoury – most appealing. Alc: 13%.

Bellevue Malbec 2023

This Malbec is a unique example of the cultivar, displaying a rich hue and captivating scents reminiscent of fynbos. The aroma reveals subtle notes of rosemary, fynbos, buchu, and mint. On the palate, an abundance of plums, berries, and herbs unfolds, complemented by soft tannins and a lingering finish.

Malbec’s depth and tannic structure make it a great companion for slow-cooked stews or braised meats, such as a beef bourguignon or a hearty beef and mushroom stew.

Bellevue Malbec 2022 is a wine that will benefit from aging. Given its balance of fruit, tannin, and acidity, it has the potential to develop complexity over time.
