Blanc de Mer offers more than it portrays and its Riesling pedigree boasts a strong personality. It is an unusual blend from the Cape, where Riesling is virtually unknown as a blending partner. The name Blanc de Mer translates to ‘white of the sea’. Inspired by the estate’s close proximity to Walker Bay, where the Southern Right whales come to calve during the late winter months until the end of spring.

Blend : 67% Riesling, 19% Viognier, 14% Chardonnay

A fountain of flowery aromas alerts first impression success! The taste is characterised by hints of quince, apricot and almonds with a comforting creamy middle and a bold seamless surround.

A wine for all seasons!

Ideally suited to summer salads, salmon, sushi, oysters and white cheese.

Surprisingly accessible and arguably the earliest drinking version of Hannibal to date. Medium bodied with the elegance of a ballet dancer and the balance of a martial arts expert. Spicy tones overlay a gentle silky, “leather feel” back palate, which is emphasized by olive and black cherry tainted, cranberry laced flavours.

33% Sangiovese, 22% Pinot noir, 18% Shiraz, 17%Nebbiolo, 6% Mourvédre, 4% Barbera

Delicious with red meat and Italian dishes

Bouchard Finlayson Galpin Peak Pinot Noir

A confident wine with a firm and polished profile of flavours without being overstated. It is classically old world with good aging potential. Peppery spice with blackberry and cherry notes, ending in a harmonious and long earthy finish.

Pairs beautifully with red meats, fish, poultry, game birds, tuna and cheese.

Crocodile’s Lair Chardonnay

Flashes of lime blossom and flint, with a gravelly undercurrent of rye and yeasty complexity. Expansive pear and yellow peach flavours launch off the palate, endlessly gliding on honey infused lemon drops. Unctuous, yet lively throughout. A citrus pith interest anchors the finish, calling for a return to the glass.

Enjoyed through all seasons with a wide range of dishes, particularly rich seafood, white meats and charcuterie.

Drink now though 2028.

Serve at 9-12 Deg.

The Kaaimansgat (Crocodile’s Lair) vineyard, 80 km from Hermanus and 700 m above sea level, lies in a secluded valley surrounded by mountains.

Despite challenging conditions, the vintage yielded a healthy crop. Chardonnay juice was lightly oxygenated before fermentation to reduce phenolics and enhance freshness. Most of the wine underwent malolactic fermentation for balance, then matured for 8 months in French oak (22% new).
