A captivating violet-red hue in the glass, this wine offers aromas of ripe mulberries typical of its Franschhoek terroir, complemented by the savoury notes of black olive and a subtle hint of aniseed. The palate has a fresh and juicy profile with a smooth, mellow texture, brimming with vibrant cherry fruit. Medium-bodied with a generous finish.

Serve at 16-18 Deg.

La Motte Syrah promises excellent ageing potential and to continue evolving in complexity over the next 15 years.

This wine harmonizes perfectly with rich, flavourful dishes, grilled foods (including grilled vegetables), game dishes (particularly those incorporating stewed fruit and sweet aromatic spice components), peppercorn crusted steaks and barbecued meat in a sticky, sweet marinade.

La Motte Millennium

Blend: Merlot (66%), Cabernet Franc (25%), Shiraz (6%), Petit Verdot (3%)

A dusty, earthy nose with raspberry and mulberry fruit, cinnamon spice and a hint of mint, promising a complex wine. The first touch on the palate is velvety and juicy. The mid-palate is firm, but medium-bodied and the finish mineral-dry and lingering.

Serve at 16-18 Deg.

Pair with smoked lamb rack with charred orange zest.

Drink now to enjoy its vibrant fruit and spice, or cellar for 2–5 years for added integration and subtle complexity.

La Motte Cabernet Sauvignon

An elegant, typically South African style Cabernet Sauvignon, made to reflect varietal characteristics. The dark red colour and big extract reveal a great year for reds. Intense varietal nose with blackcurrant, violets, mint and slight plum. Heavy body, but rounded tannins and fleshy consistency.

Sugar : 2.7 g/l
pH : 3.5

La Motte Chardonnay 2024

Fruity nectarine and citrus blossom on the nose, with hints of cashew nut and baked bread as the only evidence of wood maturation. A juicy and polished entry, medium full, with lots of citrus and succulent peach on the palate. Lively length with good freshness for a wood matured wine.

Serve at 10-12 Deg.

A classic option with creamy cheese and egg dishes such as quiche and souffle, it also partners well with subtle spice and curries.

This La Motte Chardonnay will be best enjoyed between now and around 4-6 years from vintage.

La Motte Pierneef Shiraz/Viognier

Good colour and tight, concentrated tannins from the Walker Bay area are combined with spicy, intensely flavoured wine from Elim, to produce a wine full of flavour and complexity. This vintage reflects rose geranium perfume on the nose, with mulberry fruit. Soft and gentle on the palate, medium in body and lots of finesse. A perfect expression of South African cool climate Syrah.

90% Syrah and 10% Viognier

pH : 3.52

Made from biologically grown grapes, this ample bodied wine shows intense lemon, melon and green apple flavours complemented by aromas from the natural flora (‘fynbos’) in its habitat – a veritable expression of its unique terroir. The crisp acidity lends freshness to the palate.

La Motte Sauvignon Blanc

The wine has a green straw colour. There are ample Cape gooseberry and green apple flavours, supported by ripe lemon and tropical flavours such as pineapple and passion-fruit. Due to the cool season, acid is high. The acid is well balanced with body and residual sugar, and good concentration and intensity are promoted on the palate — refreshing, with a lingering presence in the after-taste.

With its natural acidity and acute texture, the La Motte Sauvignon Blanc pairs beautifully with seafood, light pastas and spicy Chinese and Thai dishes. This white wine also goes extremely well with acute seasonings, and salty eats such as pre-dinner canapés. A natural partner to goat’s cheese. On its own, a refreshing aperitif white wine.
