In its youth the wine exhibits very attractive purple hues with dark fruit flavours, such as plum, blackberry and violets, along with pepper and tobacco. As the wine ages it will reveal a more savoury fruit profile.0

A great wine to enjoy on its own or with a wide variety of roasted meats, Italian fare or mushroom based dishes.

Serve at 15-18 Deg.

As with all of Rustenberg’s red wines, decanting before serving is recommended.

Rustenberg Stellenbosch Merlot

The Rustenberg Estate was founded in 1682 and is nestled in the valley of the Simonsberg Mountain in South Africa’s premium wine region Stellenbosch. Rustenberg’s rich heritage and ethos has been informed by many centuries of human influence striving to understand and work with nature to produce wines of distinct character true to their terroir variety and informed style.

This Merlot displays rich aromas of blackberries, cassis, eucalyptus and dark chocolate follow through to a smooth palate that is both balanced and well-rounded with fine grained tannins.

Displaying excellent concentration and structure, the Stellenbosch Merlot is designed to age well.

Pair with any rich hearty meal.

Serve at 12-15 Deg.

Rustenberg Unwooded Chardonnay

Rustenberg Cabernet Sauvignon

Stellenbosch and the Simonsberg Mountain range are synonymous with the production of great Cabernet Sauvignon. Just over one third of Rustenberg’s vineyard plantings are dedicated to this variety and it is used through all of our blended red wines, and the famous site specific Peter Barlow. The Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon is made in a more fruit forward and medium bodied style and is accessible in its youth but will benefit from further bottle age. We recommend decanting this wine before serving.
The wine shows typical Cabernet Sauvignon flavour and aroma profiles of dark berries and tobacco with a well-structured and lengthy palate.

Rustenberg John X Merriman

The John X Merriman is a powerful wine that rewards aging. In its youth the wine is worth decanting and expresses cassis, black currant and dark fruits complemented with cigar tobacco and sour cherry notes. As the wine ages and its fine grained tannins soften a softer more savoury palate develops revealing wonderful drinkability and tertiary complexity.
