Tokara Reserve Stellenbosch Chardonnay

This Chardonnay is made from grapes grown on Tokara’s Stellenbosch farm on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain.

This wine displays a light gold colour. Aromas of lemon and lime skin, mandarin blossom and crème anglaise emanate from the glass. The wine enters the palate with ripe yellow citrus flavours leading to a silky mid-palate with a hint of caramelisation. There is a continuous saline focus and feeling of freshness throughout that suggests this wine will age beautifully for at least a decade.

Food pairing: Best served with sole meunière, or soft-shelled crab and fennel seafood pasta.

Serve at 8-12 Deg.

The 2024 vintage is best before around 2034, indicating it has good mid-term aging potential.

Tokara Director’s Reserve Red

This wine is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Petit Verdot, 10% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. The grapes originated from Tokara vineyards on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in Stellenbosch.
The wine has a vibrant crimson colour with an intense dark centre and a ruby rim. The nose showcases complex aromas of black cherry, subtle cocoa, dried currants, tobacco leaf and graphite. The wine enters the palate with incredible purity and focus, with flavours of dark cherries, blackberries and plum skin. Sumptuous and full there is a hint of tension on the mid-palate which leads to fine dense tannins and a lengthy finish.

Tokara Director’s Reserve White

This consistent award winner is a blend of 69% Sauvignon blanc and 31% Sémillon, made from grapes grown on the highest slopes of TOKARA’s Stellenbosch property. The wine displays a pale straw colour with striking brilliance that catches the light. The nose is complex, exhibiting attractive notes of ripe passion fruit and pink grapefruit all intermingled with hints of lemon grass and freshly baked brioche. On the palate the wine enters full and rich reminiscent of the aromas on the nose. Aged nine months on the lees in one-third new French oak, the wine has amazing clarity and depth with a zesty persistence.

Tokara Reserve Collection Cabernet Sauvignon

The wine displays a vibrant maroon colour. The nose leads with dark berry fruits, five spice and cedar wood. There is a brightness and vibrancy underlying all these aromas with hints of fresh herbs and red currant notes. The palate is rich and brooding with flavours which mirror the aromas. The mid-palate is weighty yet it leads to a textured finish with lingering grainy tannins. This wine drinks well now but will benefit from ageing.

Tokara Reserve Collection Syrah

The wine displays a stunning deep purple colour with a ruby red rim. The nose leads with notes of ripe blueberries and blackberries intermeshed with subtle clove spice. There are aromas of cedar and vanilla giving a beautiful perfume which supports the hint of blue violets emanating from the glass. The palate is classy and refined with rich dark fruit and a silky mid-palate. The wine leaves one with an appealing chalky finish and a hint of pepper spice.

The wine has stunning depth of colour. Displaying intense garnet centre and a ruby rim. The nose is shy at first then opens up to a melange of red and black fruits with hints of dried herbs, Eucalyptus, cedar wood and graphite. The wine enters the palate with amazing clarity. The flavours are those of dark cherries, raspberries and black currant. There is a hint of herbal spice on the mid-palate which leads to fine, firm tannins on the finish.

Tokara Elgin Sauvignon Blanc

This wine displays a pale straw colour with brilliant green edge. On the nose the wine opens with crisp green apple and lime blossom. This evolves to incorporate a complex mélange of lemongrass and subtle blackcurrant leaf.

The palate is bright and refreshing with a focused tension that suggests longevity and a characteristic oyster shell salinity.

Best served slightly chilled and with fresh summer oysters, fresh grilled yellowtail with salsa verde or salmon roses with mayo and caviar.

Serve at 9-12 Deg.

Tokara Cabernet Sauvignon

This wine has a beautiful bright claret colour.

There are aromas of dark plum, subtle cassis and blackberry on the nose complimented by underlying notes of five spice and the slightest hint of vanilla. The palate is packed with delicious dark fruit interwoven in spice and light toast notes from the barrels. A tannin profile reminiscent of silky dark chocolate with poised freshness round off the finish.

This wine will drink well now but will also benefit from cellaring.

Steak, lamb chops, or roast beef work well with the wine’s bold flavours.

Tokara Shiraz

The wine has a brilliant deep garnet colour. The nose of this wine is an interesting mix of five spice with blackberries and mulberries and a floral undertone. There’s a hint of fynbos and dry herbs, which is evidence of the presence of Mourvèdre. The wine enters the palate with upfront bright red and black fruit. There is a fine textured mid palate where the herbal notes are evident and finishes with a certain amount of freshness with a definite peppery grip.

Serve at 12-15 Deg.

Pair with braised dishes with steamed vegetables and dark sauces.

Enjoy now and can cellar well for another 5 years.
