Red cherry, plum and cassis are joined by rose, herbs and earth. Medium-bodied, with a pleasing line of acidity and firm but fine tannins. The finish is long and dry. Understated but by no means inconsequential.

The nose is initially reserved, offering peach, honeysuckle and a hint of lanolin. The palate shows good clarity of fruit, with bright acidity and a dry, finish. Balanced and technically accomplished, although still somewhat closed at this stage.

The wine underwent 30% whole-bunch fermentation before spending 10 months maturing in foudre. The nose is delicately perfumed with cranberry, strawberry, rose, fynbos and white pepper. The medium-bodied palate combines pure fruit with zippy acidity and fine, powdery tannins, finishing gently dry with an earthy nuance. Rather charming. Alc: 13.5%. – WineMag

A blend of 36% Cabernet Franc, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 10% Malbec and 7% Petit Verdot, it was matured for 19 months in barrel, 15% new. or 19 months in barrel, 15% new. The nose shows red and black berries, rose, tobacco, herbs, vanilla, pencil shavings and oak spice. The palate is full-bodied but never cumbersome, structured and self-possessed. Succulent fruit is matched by vibrant acidity and firm, fine-grained tannins, the finish long and dry without a hint of astringency. A wine of impeccable balance. Alc: 14.5%. – WineMag

Pear, peach, citrus, hay, herbs and some flinty reduction on the nose. The palate combines pure, dense fruit with bright acidity, finishing long, savoury and gently pithy. 45% Grenache, 36% Syrah, 11% Carignan and 8% Mourvèdre, sourced from Olifantsberg in Breedekloof and Gabriëlskloof in Bot River. The nose is complex yet restrained, with notes of red and black berries, olive brine, fynbos and white pepper. The palate is focused and linear – almost austere – with pure fruit and fresh acidity, the finish long and dry. More detail and finesse than previous vintages. Alc: 14.01%.

Thorne & Daughters Tin Soldier Semillon 2025

From Swartland Semillon Gris, half the grapes spending approximately a week on skins. The nose is particularly expressive with notes of nectarine, orange peel, purple grape soda and a subtle potpourri nuance. The palate shows impressive fruit concentration and a creamy texture, balanced by well-integrated acidity. Some gentle phenolic grip lends shape and persistence to an otherwise juicy, rounded wine of considerable charm. Alc: 12.1%.
