Description
Blend: 47% Shiraz, 18% Merlot, 16% Malbec, 13% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc
The Moody Lagoon Red Blend 2021 serves as an ode to the Bot River lagoon adjacent to the winery, showcasing the diversity found on the estate. Nicknamed “Moody” the lagoon is known to be unpredictable, changing in colour and flow direction throughout the day.
The balance of dark fruit and wild cherries in this blend will mould this wine into an array of dishes. Mulberry and blueberry are embraced with notes of cedar, both dried herbs like coriander seeds, and the smell of crushing fresh herbs in your hand, leaving faint hints of rosemary behind.
Serving temperature: 14 – 16 Deg.
Already approachable, the wine can be cellared for 3 – 5 years.
Best paired with lamb koftas with tzatziki or ostrich and camembert burgers.

Both red wines were superb – starting the evening off with the lighter style Le Chant 2020, followed by the bolder Benguela Cove Moody Lagoon Red 2021. Both wines deliver better slightly cooler – around 17-18 degrees.

A brilliant Bordeaux “cheat” with the Shiraz in there instead of the traditional Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine will compete with the best.
A popular favourite with everyone whom I introduce it to.
