Description
Arno Smith’s passion for winemaking began on his family farm in the Tankwa Karoo and was nurtured by mentor Lukas Wentzel of Groote Post. After studying Viticulture at Elsenburg, he refined his craft in the U.S. and Australia. He later became winemaker at Hillcrest Estate in Durbanville and in 2021, Arno launched his own label, Arno Smith Wine Company.
This medium-bodied Cabernet Franc, parent grape of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, thrives in regions like Stellenbosch, Paarl, and the Swartland. Known for its climate-driven diversity, it offers a bright red hue with herbaceous, chalky aromas, and notes of cherries and peppercorn on the palate. This wine is well structured and expressive.
Serve at 19-21 Deg.
The savoury and fruity aromas make Cabernet Franc an excellent food wine to pair with roasted pork, beef stew, meatballs in tomato sauce.
Drinking beautifully now and will cellar well for another 5 to 7 years.
