This wine is an unfiltered wine and may look slightly cloudy or contain tiny natural particles like yeast or grape solids, but these are harmless and natural. Therefore offering a richer, more textured and fuller-bodied wine keeping within character of the grape varietal.
Additional notes:
Our Palomino is produced using the grapes from a traditional Spanish varietal planted here on Brakkuil farm back in 1978. The vineyard at the foot of “Klein Tafelberg” (small Table Mountain) is comprised of limestone rich coastal soil – adding hugely to the Palomino’s subtle notes of natural sea salt minerality.
Under veil – means after the grapes have been pressed the juice is left for primary fermentation to begin. It is then when the “veil” begins to form after a couple of weeks that the wine is then moved to stainless steel tanks or cement eggs to mature for another few months.
