Additional Info:
Shiraz thrives in the poor, gravelly soils found across parts of our farm—ideal for producing world-class wines. The vintage was excellent for red wines in Stellenbosch, with hot, dry conditions yielding small, concentrated berries. Grapes were hand-picked, crushed, and only 20% of the juice was used. After an overnight cold soak, fermentation began with Rhône-sourced yeasts. Barrel ageing was done over 16 months in 25% new French oak, balance older French oak.
Hartenberg’s unique soils and ideal weather make it naturally suited to Shiraz. With over 40 years of experience, we’re proud to be South Africa’s second oldest and one of its leading Shiraz producers.
