Description
This Grenache is big in fruit and structure with a beautiful deep red colour. Delightfully aromatic with vibrant red berry and black cherry aromas and intriguing fynbos notes. An opulent, juicy palate with masses of berry fruit supported by subtle, integrated oak and mouth-watering, cool climate tannins.
Pairs well with game birds, slow roast pork or lamb, lamb and beef stews, lamb shanks and strong cheeses.

Only a small batch of 4 tons was produced in an open fermenter. Half the grapes were destemmed and the other half was whole bunch with gently crushing-foot stomping by the cellar team. Fermentation took place with selected Rhone yeast strains at 22-26 Deg. Punch downs were done twice a day and the wine was barrel matured for 10 months in 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels.
Strandveld refers to the coastal belt of land which straddles the coastline around Africa’s southern most tip of Cape Agulhas. Their wines reflect their wild origins of diverse terroir and a maritime climate through remarkable complexity and singularity.
