Blend: 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Cabernet Franc and 17% Merlot.

Inky blue-black colour showing depth and concentration. The nose combines bright cassis aromas with classic cigar-box and forest floor notes. Fine-grained tannins provide a savoury element to the palate ensuring a long and pleasant finish.

Pair with hearty dishes like grilled lamb, beef stews, game, or creamy cheese (brie, camembert) — think meals that can stand up to its bold structure.

Serve at 16-18 Deg.

Kallista is Vriesenhof’s flagship Bordeaux-style blend, named from the Greek for “the good and the noble.” Crafted since the early 1980s by Jan Boland Coetzee, it reflects elegance, power, and a true expression of site and vintage.  Each varietal is fermented separately on the skins for 6–8 days, then aged individually in French oak barrels for 12–18 months (some new French and American oak). After aging, the wines are blended to create a classic Bordeaux-style wine, emphasizing minimal intervention and terroir expression.
